Glossary of Laser Related Terminology

Dr. Saleh Jany, an ABLS Diplomate, has kindly provided a comprehensive Glossary of Laser Related Terminology to share with Diplomates and other visitors to the Board’s website. The Board appreciates very much Dr. Jany’s contribution. Please peruse the Glossary and share it with other laser practitioners (it is in PDF format).

A brief profile of Dr. Jany follows:

Dr. Saleh J. Jany was born in Baghdad, Iraq and he earned the following degrees and certifications: BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery); MSC (Master of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery); HLD (High Laser Diploma in Laser Application in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery); ABLS Diplomate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery; and the Board of Laser Safety, Certified Medical Laser Safety Officer (CMLSO) awarded by the Laser Institute of America.

Dr. Jany has vast experience in war zones with maxillofacial trauma and missile injuries with immense experience in working with Er:YAG (Kavo key3 Laser), CO2 laser and Nd:YAG laser instruments. Dr. Jany has held several teaching positions in academic, medical and dental institutions throughout the Middle East.
